The Artist Behind the Pet Portraits
Hello! My name is Nicole Santamaría, and I am a London-based pet portrait artist. Originally from Ecuador, I grew up in Spain and have now called London home for over five years. My love for painting and drawing started early, taking lessons from a young age, though I did not study it professionally.
While oil and acrylics are my main mediums for creating hand-painted pet portraits, I love to experiment with other materials to create a range of artwork.
The indescribable bond I share with them is what I strive to capture in my paintings. My goal is for that same love and connection to be at the heart of every portrait I create, helping others celebrate the animals who bring so much joy into their lives, including creating heartfelt pet memorials.
When I’m not painting, I'm traveling, exploring new places, or working on creative projects that blend design with human experience.
My passion for pet portraits began with my own furry family. My two dogs, Charly and Coby, and my cat, Charlotte, are my greatest source of inspiration. They have always been a wellspring of unconditional love, loyalty, and emotional support.
Meet My Inspiration
These three have been with me on my journey, teaching me the unique personalities and unconditional love that I aim to capture in every brushstroke.
My 12-year-old Maltese, Charly, is the sweetest and most loving boy. He is my constant companion and a master of cuddles and belly rubs. His gentle nature is a constant reminder of the intimate, soulful portraits I love to create.
Coby, my 10-year-old Maltese, is full of joyful energy. He's always ready for a game of fetch and reminds me of the playful and loyal spirit I want to capture in my art. Though shy at first, he's the most affectionate dog you could meet once he knows you.
My 11-year-old cat, Charlotte, is the epitome of an independent diva. She loves a good cuddle but on her own terms! Her sassy and loving personality is a perfect reminder that every pet has a unique character to be celebrated.
